It was conferred on him, and on nine other management teachers selected from all over the world, on 19th June, 2016 in a glittering ceremony held at Atlanta, United States of America in the presence of more than 1200 academicians from 61 countries.
This award recognises Prof. Pattanayak as one of the top ten management educators of the world, the other recipients being Prof. Ashley Elmore Bosonac (Georgian Court University, USA), Prof. Leisa Muto (Fairmont State University, USA), Prof. A. Dale King (Lenoir-Rhyne University, USA), Prof. Bonnie Tiell (Tiffin University, USA), Prof. William Venable (Park University, USA), Prof. Stacey Bolin (East Central University, USA), Prof. Charla Brown (University of Alaska Southeast, USA), Prof. Wasim Minhas (Higher Colleges of Technology – Sharjah, UAE),  and Prof. Monica Blanco Jimenez (Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, Mexico). Thus Prof. Pattanayak is the only one from India to have been honored with this award in 2016.
Earlier, Prof. Pattanayak was awarded the Best Professor in HRM by Dewang Mehta Foundation and Deccan Herald. He has been honoured with citation in Indo-European Who’s Who, Asian-American Who’s Who, Who’s Who in the World, Asia-Men and Women of Achievement. He also finds a mention in the Leading Scientist of the World by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England.
Prof. Pattanayak has been appointed by the Hon’ble President of India as a member of the Courts (the highest bodies of Governance) of Central University of Rajasthan and Guru Ghasidas Central University, Chhattisgarh. He is an elected member to the Council of Management of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi.  He has to his credit more than 84 Research Publications in national and international referred Journals and 23 books published by well-known publishers like Prentice Hall, Sage, Excel Books and Bloomsbury. Earlier his widely talked about Lagaan case study was rated the highest in the international conference of American Psychological Association, thereby earning him the sobriquet of ‘Lagaan Professor’.
It may be added here that this year ACBSP has granted its prestigious accreditation to 28 colleges and universities all over the world, Asian School of Business Management, Bhubaneswar being one among them. ASBM had received earlier accreditation under SAQS. Thus it is now the 9th institute in the country to have received double international accreditation.
