Asian School of Business Management, Bhubaneswar organised the 25th National Management Colloquium (NMC)–LSCM on the 5th of December 2015 in its premises. The theme of the colloquium was “Logistics Optimization – Strategy to Execution” with sub themes ‘Quality-Cost Tradeoff’ and ‘Innovation versus Replication’.
This colloquium was inaugurated by the Chief Guest of the occasion, Shri N. Vaiyapuri, Deputy Chairman, Paradip Port Trust by lighting the ‘lamp of wisdom’. He emphasised on the effects that ports have on logistic industry in developing countries. Also he presented some effective logistic optimization strategies.
Shri D. Jahagirdhar, Vice President Marketing, VRL Logistics and Guest of Honour of the occasion shed light on the difficulties faced by the logistic section in any business and stressed on the importance of honesty in logistics.
The Key Note Speaker Shri Ummed Singh, Head, Supply chain Operations, East, Gati Limited emphasized on faster changes as the need of the hour and described how GATI KWE has brought revolution in the field of logistics. He also listed out the methods to optimize logistic operations.
Delivering his welcome address, Prof. K. S. Ray, Dean, ASBM, beautifully related the estimate of commodities used during the Mahabharat War as first instance of logistics. He elaborated on the interdependency of logistics with the economy of the region and emphasised on the need of innovative solutions. At the end of the inaugural session, Prof. Ray presented ASBM memento as token of love to the distinguished guests of the occasion.
The speakers in the technical sessions I and II were Shri Himadri Pattnayak, Managing Director, Exim Logistics, Captain Debabrat Mishra, CEO, Esquire Infolab Systems Pvt. Ltd. Shri Abhijan Talukdar, Vice President, Crown Hotel, Shri L. D. Behera, Deputy Chief Operations Manager, East Coast Railway, Captain S. K. Mohapatra, Joint General Manager (Port & Logistics) IFFCO Paradeep.
The co-coordinator of the Programme, Prof. Suresh Chandra Mohapatra introduced the guest while coordinator Prof. Anab Chakraborty, proposed the vote of thanks. All the members of faculty, delegates from various institutions, students and members of electronic and print media were present to witness the occasion at ASBM.
