ASBM University Holds 14th National Marklogistics Symposium on ‘Supply Chain Agility’
09, Nov 2024 – Bhubaneswar, India – The School of Business at ASBM University organized the 14th National Marklogistics Symposium on 9th November 2024, centered on the theme, ‘Supply Chain Agility: Leveraging the Brand Agnostic.’ Shri Subrat Tripathy, President of Business Development at Adani Group, and Shri Y. N. Babu, Principal Chief Operations Manager of East Coast Railways, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri Tripathy, by lighting the lamp.
The Chief Guest, Shri Subrat Tripathy, compellingly illustrated the symposium’s theme through examples drawn from everyday experiences. Reflecting on the Covid-19 pandemic, he noted how it served as a pause button that transformed global operations, while a robust and agile global supply chain ensured minimal disruptions to daily life. He remarked that in today’s landscape, data is the new oil, and when paired with technology and AI, it has fueled rapid innovation within the supply chain sector.
In his address, the Guest of Honour, Shri Y. N. Babu, spoke at length about the operational dynamics of Indian Railways with a focus on rail logistics. Reflecting on the history of the railway system, its zonal organization, and its impact on markets, he noted that rail logistics, when effectively utilized, can be a game changer for many organizations. He emphasized its sustainable nature, which helps reduce carbon footprints and supports a greener future for supply chains.
Prof. (Dr.) Biswajeet Pattanayak, the Honourable Founder and President of the University, presided over the function. Addressing the theme’s contemporary relevance, he provided a compelling definition of brand agnostics as individuals who prioritize quality and experience over brand loyalty—a phenomenon particularly evident among the new generation, who, despite brand awareness, do not exhibit steadfast brand loyalty. Prof. Pattanayak emphasized that in today’s market, it is not the customer who is king, but rather the availability of goods. To ensure a thriving market, agility and efficiency within the supply chain are essential. He argued for a shift from a focus on the supply chain to a value chain approach, as this transition is critical to engaging brand-agnostic consumers.
Dr. Rutuparna Dash, Coordinator, introduced the eminent guests on the dais. The welcome address was given by Prof. Dr. Ranjan Kumar Bal, Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. (Dr.) Biswajeet Pattanayak felicitated and presented mementos to Shri Subrat Tripathy, the Chief Guest, and Shri Y. N. Babu, the Guest of Honour. Prof. Arnab Sen gave the Vote of Thanks.
The afternoon plenary session was moderated by Prof. T. K. Pany, Head, Dept. of Commerce & Management, Ravenshaw University. Shri Sumeet Baruah, Regional Commercial Manager, East Zone, Godrej; Shri Satyabadi Behera, Senior Manager, Indo-Nissin Foods Pvt. Ltd.; and Shri Aditya Narayan Samal, Senior Marketing Manager, VRL Logistics Ltd., were part of the intellectually enriching panel discussion.
